TUMMY TUCK
TUMMY TUCK
Abdominoplasty, commonly known as a tummy tuck, is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen and tightens the underlying muscles to create a flatter, more toned appearance.
During the procedure, the surgeon makes an incision along the lower abdomen, just above the pubic area. Through this incision, the surgeon removes excess skin and fat and tightens the abdominal muscles. They may also reposition the belly button for a more natural-looking appearance. Finally, the incision is closed with sutures or staples, and the patient is sent to recovery.
Before the procedure
Patients should avoid smoking and drinking alcohol, as these can impair healing and increase the risk of complications. They should also stop taking blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, as these can increase the risk of bleeding. The surgeon will provide specific instructions on how to prepare for the procedure, including what medications to take and what to eat and drink before surgery.
After the procedure
Patients will need to take some time to recover. They may experience bruising, swelling, and discomfort for several days to a few weeks. The surgeon may prescribe pain medication to manage any discomfort. Patients should avoid strenuous activities, bending over, and heavy lifting for several weeks after surgery to prevent complications. They should also wear a compression garment for several weeks to help reduce swelling and support the healing tissues.
Results
The results of an abdominoplasty can be long-lasting, but they can be affected by weight gain or loss, pregnancy, and the natural aging process. Patients can maintain their results by following a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet and regular exercise.
