RHINOPLASTY

Also known as a nose job, is a cosmetic surgical procedure to improve the appearance and/or function of the nose. This procedure can be done for a variety of reasons, such as correcting breathing problems or to improve the overall aesthetic appearance of the nose.

During the procedure, the surgeon will make incisions inside the nose or on the outside of the nose, depending on the desired outcome. They may reshape the bone, cartilage, or tissue in the nose to achieve the desired result. Once the procedure is complete, the incisions are closed with sutures or surgical tape.

Before the procedure

Patients will need to consult with their surgeon to discuss their goals and expectations for the surgery. They may need to undergo certain medical tests to ensure they are healthy enough to undergo surgery. The surgeon may also provide specific instructions on how to prepare for the procedure, such as what medications to avoid and what to eat and drink before surgery.

After the procedure

Patients will need to take time to recover. They may experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort for several days to a few weeks. The surgeon may prescribe pain medication to manage any discomfort. Patients should avoid strenuous activities and blowing their nose for several weeks after surgery to prevent complications. They may also need to wear a splint or nasal packing to help with healing and reduce swelling.

Results

The results of rhinoplasty can be long-lasting, but they can be affected by the natural aging process and the individual’s lifestyle choices. Patients should also be aware that revisions may be necessary in some cases to achieve the desired outcome.
